For those of you who know me well, you know that I almost always go to Wendy’s on Wednesday night for dinner. It only makes sense. It is on the way from my office to the church building for mid-week Bible class and I often share a meal with friends who are also on their way to class.
Yesterday, I wrote a post about The First Hamburger with details of one of the leading candidates for the first restaurant to serve hamburgers on buns. At the end of the post I mentioned: “I think I will have a hamburger for dinner tomorrow night.”
And of course I did.
My normal order on Wednesday night is a Double Stack with a side of Chili. I like to just have a basic burger without a lot of extras. Just give me ketchup, mustard and pickles.
One of my blogger friends, Boomdeeadda, commented on my post yesterday and said that “Well, I’m sure you’ll make a yummy one.” Actually, this is very close to what I make when I make them for myself.
Occasionally, I do like to get a burger with a little bit extra on it. As long as the ingredients are fresh.
I do like a nice Double-Double from In-N-Out, but will only have it occasionally. It is nice to indulge once in a while, but not too often. I really like the fries at In-N-Out, but they have a lot of calories that I don’t need. I am actually amazed that at Wendy’s the Chili is only about half as many calories as an order of fries. I just looked it up. A small Chili is 210 calories and medium Fries are 420 calories.
Oh, back to the idea of a basic burger. You can read some of my thoughts about basic burgers in a post I wrote last June: Five Guys – Is it worth the price?
Now, for one more hamburger related thought. Have you been missing Wonder Hamburger Buns over the last several months?
I hope everyone had a great Wednesday!
